Anomaly: Out of Place
Open Call Group Exhibition
Anomaly: Out of Place invites artists working across all mediums to submit work that resists expectation.
This exhibition is interested in the outlier, the misfit, and the work that feels slightly out of step with its surroundings. An anomaly may be found in process, material, subject matter, or approach. It might be a work made using an alternative or experimental process, an object created through an unorthodox method, or a piece whose subject feels quietly displaced or unresolved.
While works using alternative or historical photographic processes are especially encouraged, this callout is open to all mediums. Submissions may explore:
unconventional, experimental, or alternative processes
unexpected materials or methods
subject matter that feels out of place or misaligned
disruptions of pattern, sequence, or form
singular works that resist easy categorisation
An anomaly does not need to be loud or extreme. Subtle deviations, gentle disruptions, and slight irregularities are equally welcome.
Anomaly: Out of Place seeks work that sits just outside the expected, inviting viewers to pause with what doesn’t quite belong.

If you are unable to drop work off in person, you may post your artwork to us. Please ensure you include a prepaid return satchel or return postage label so work can be sent back after the exhibition.

No. Artworks do not need to be listed for sale to be included in the exhibition. Artists may choose whether or not their work is available for purchase.
-
If an artwork is for sale and a buyer is interested, we will put the buyer directly in touch with the artist to organise payment and collection.
If an artist would prefer Kindred Cameras to handle the sale on their behalf, this can be arranged for a per-artwork administration fee, which will be outlined to selected artists.
-
Yes! Installation, sculptural, or non-traditional works are welcome. We have a limited number of plinths available for 3D work, and a TV and projector for video or media-based works.
Please clearly outline any installation requirements, space needs, or technical considerations in your submission so we can plan accordingly.
-
All works will be hung or installed directly onto the wall. Artworks do not need a specific mounting system.
Unframed works will generally be hung using Command strips, which are the least likely method to damage the artwork. There is a small possibility of minor marking to the back of the print, but this avoids puncturing or otherwise harming the work. Artists may also request pins or magnets; if using magnets, the artist will need to supply them.
Framed works will be mounted directly to the wall using screws, ensuring a secure display.
Please include any hanging or installation preferences in your submission so we can accommodate them wherever possible.
-
Kindred Cameras will handle curation and installation. Artists will be contacted if additional support or specific installation input is required.
-
Yes. Kindred Cameras will provide artwork labels and didactic text. Please ensure all details in your submission are correct, as this information will be used directly for labels.
-
Yes. The opening night will be open to the public, and artists are warmly encouraged to bring friends and family. Food and nibbles will be provided.
